Pioneers of Cherry Wine in Central Otago.
The distinctive terroir of Central Otago produces some of the world’s most coveted wines. For over two decades, the fertile soil, extreme climate and rugged terrain that create the region’s unique growing conditions have been embraced by the family orchard to grow premium cherries.
The orchard is primely located 230 metres above sea level, at the base of Mount Pisa. The family-run orchard’s rich earth gathers its pristine water from the Wakatipu Basin’s surrounding snow-capped mountains, which flow down the Kawarau River to Lake Dunstan. The world-class cherries are harvested by hand and aged to produce Ripponvale Cherry Wine.
